Volunteering
Mombasa Volunteer Orphanages and in communities: HPM works with a number of orphanages around Mombasa Town.
Our volunteers travel a short distance to various projects, including orphanages, schools and communities.
You will work in one of the 8 orphanages and schools in the area
we have orphanage projects in Mombasa, Nairobi, Machakos, Kilifi and other small towns. Orphans in Kenya Orphanages and Children’s Homes are extremely disadvantaged and encounter a lot of hardships in their life.
They are deprived of many opportunities necessary for their development. The children in our Kenya orphanage projects have never experienced loving, caring and stable relationships.

Volunteering abroad in Ecuador with HPM was unforgettable. You feel you make a difference by being present and showing up to volunteer during the week, yet still have time to get to travel and explore the country. Being together with other volunteers from around the world from different walks of life is enlightening and honoring to build connections together.

The two weeks I spent in Mombasa were easily the Two best weeks of my life. I got home months ago and still talk often to many of the volunteers I grew close with; I think they have truly become life-long friends. The people that volunteer through HPM are some of the most incredible people you will ever meet. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for my experience, and what I would give to do it all over again. Volunteering with HPM was certainly one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Featured Volunteer Testimonials
My name is Paul Jacob from US
and I am a graduate student at Oxford University studying the the effects of radiation therapy in neuro- oncology.
After having completed medical internships across the United States and Israel, I was privileged to spend quality time among the people of Mombasa.
I was given the opportunity to be involved with patients in a hands-on manner, which was very educational, and I surely did learn an authentic amount of medical knowledge from my time there.
There is absolutely nothing as great as volunteering with HPM in Kenya. I was touched by the warm hearts and kindness of the Mombasa people, and I was given a chance to give back to the world in a meaningful way.
Humanitarian Project in Mombasa gave me the chance to volunteer in an orphanage, and schools teach science courses.
The friends I made on this trip will surely last me a life time, and the experience has truly changed my life for the better. Any medical or premedical student looking to make a difference in the world, help out a needy neighbor, and make some great memories with awesome people on the way, should definitely join Humanitarian Project in Mombasa
It is a memory that will forever remain engraved in your heart. In addition to this I must include that Dr. Robert Mueke helped tremendously at making this experience successful, manageable, and educational.
Robert provided us with good meals, housing, transportation, and medical opportunities. The living conditions were suitable for any US or European student, and the ability to have a real effect on the people of Kenya is unimaginable.
HPM, provided me with medical exposure that can be matched by no other internship or medical elective in the world, and I highly recommend any student interested in medicine to join this program. -- Best Paul
Christine from UK
i was extremely thankful for all the information Robert provided to me before I arrived, I emailed most weeks with hundreds of little questions and always received a decent response promptly! It reassured me knowing that I could always send an email when I had any worries!
Robert was there when I arrived and waited for me despite me spending hours trying to find my bag! There was a clear sign with my name so he was easy to identify
I loved working at Faith Orphanage and all the kids and staff were lovely! It was nice just to spend time with the children talking and playing with them. Really enjoyed it all! All the workers at the orphanage (children and staff) were really welcoming!
I enjoyed the visit to Mombasa and giving the children presents (toys, sweets, clothes etc) and seeing their faces when they received them
I've only been home a week and already miss it loads!! It's an amazing experience that you won't anywhere else!! Mombasa Kenya is a lovely country and everyone is very friendly!! It's also great value for money!
The very informative booklet inside my accommodation was packed with stuff to do during time off …this was a great volunteering experience! Thank you!!!

Volunteer Placement
A volunteer placement program is established and is running. The program allows persons from our global community
to experience HPM and the Kenyan lifestyle. Volunteers stay at the children’s home, but have their own area in the community centre.
They are involved with the day to day running of our projects, helping the house mum with household chores, preparing the children for school, teaching/educating, counselling, playing and of course provide some much needed love and care.

Simply being there for the children is one of the best things you can offer, as it brings the biggest smile to their little faces.
There will be an opportunity for the volunteers to see the beauty that Kenya has to offer.
Having a well-rounded approach to volunteering in Kenya enhance the quality of the lives that participate on the program,
the children and the Kenyan tourism industry.

Any volunteer wishing to be placed at HPM undergo an application process before placement and be approved.
This is a safety measure to protect all parties involved. Volunteers are also asked to pay a fee to HPM which will provide them with housing,
meals, cultural sensitivity and diversity training. A caretaker will ease them through their time spent in Kenya.

We are so grateful for all those over the years who have given of their time and energies
and joined our team for periods of time.
We still need people who accept the call of God and are willing to join us on the ground in doing the
work of saving children’s lives and bringing them home to a forever family.
There are two ways you can consider joining us:
